At the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool every every year I enter their silent auction. I never win. Other people do. TILL NOW!! I won four skeins of the most wonderful, warm, soft, happy-making Icelandic ever from Frelsi Farm in Maine. Isn't it just beautiful!?! YOU SHOULD TOUCH IT. Awesome. SO soft. I also received two $10 gift certificates for MORE of the stuff. And I do want more. I think I am going to get a second skein of each color. A plan is sort of forming in my little brain. A plan I have no time to execute, but will probably sneak in anyway.
In other news, and this may be sacrilege, but I am not sure what she was thinking. Elizabeth, I mean. I mean, um, really. It just doesn't work. Not even on Girl Who Looks Good in Hats (she did not inherit this from me. I tend more toward this when it comes to hats, hence the appearance of me in public only in cowgirl headwear). We even tried it on Katy Who Looks Good in Hats. No go. The Elizabeth Zimmermann Three-Corner Tam is bust. I am not in love at all. I am, however, still in love with the snail hat which is coming along nicely and should appear Monday.

Can't wait to see the snail hat!
I made the three corner tam ages ago and thought it was supremely, well dorky I guess. Maybe it will make a nice toaster cover?
CONGRATS on your win! Lovely Icelandic----- looking forward to seeing what you make with it!
Almost everyone looks good in a cowboy hat. And almost no one looks good in a clingy knitted hat. (Sorry. I know it's blasphemy. I'm not a hat person. Even when I lived in Russia and it was so cold Dante would have needed to invent a new circle of hell to account for it, I refused to wear a knitted hat. I did, however, buy a fur hat one day while I was at an outdoor market and I feared that my ears might actually fall off if I didn't. I don't even feel at all guilty about the fur. It was a necessity.) As for that three-cornered tam--even geniuses screw up once in a while.
That hat should only be worn with a powdered wig. Seriously.
But the yarn is uber soft and lovely.
congrats!
see you on saturday woman!
