I have a well documented love of, one might even say lust for, bags. Any size (except super big - I am only 5' tall after all!), any shape, if it is cool, cute, adorable, practical I am all over it. So when Kim "Somebunnyslove" Reynolds told me I needed a JessaLu bag, and then told the folks at JessaLu that I needed a JessaLu bag, who was I to argue? Besides, she was so right. We met up at Rhinebeck and I met my bag. Mine has chickens on it - and you can see it on page 57 of your copy of Teach Yourself Visually Circular Knitting. I love that bag. Not just for the chickens, not just because it was a gift, but because it is super practical and useful and makes a handy project bag both inside a bigger bag, and out of it. Sling the thing over our wrist and it's a project bag you can even knit and walk with! This is a durable, well-constructed little bag - and I would know; remember I come to yarn from other paths, notably a strong sewing background. Check it out:Adorable box shape!Cunning coordinating fabric inside! Fully lined! And I personally am smitten with the honey bee zipper pull.
Now, as a result of some faux pas, no doubt my own, the information for how to GET these bags was inadvertently left out of the resources list (page 240), so if you want a bag of your own and fail to win the gift certificate that JessaLu has so generously provided for a bag of your own - and trust my, you need one - they can be found on Artfire, and on Etsy. And as a favor to me, write "Melissa is sorry" somewhere on your order!
Question for today - Dogs or cats? Neither? Both? Something totally unique? What is your favorite pet? Remember answer the question in the comments below to be entered to win!

I have had dogs and cats growing up, and am now pet-free after 20 years with my two own kitties.
If I have my way, by the end of the year....CHICKENS! :)
My favourite pet would be a wombat but I can't have one. So, instead I went for the animal I thought most resembled one and ran a guinea pig rescue. I was surrounded by the little furry critters. They were like my mini-wombats. :-)
We own 4 pets and they are all part of our family. One dog, her name is Fiona, she is a Mini Austrailian Shepard, She is a show dog and had accomplished her CGC at 10 months. She is smarter than me and loves fisbee. 2 male cats, Bagheera and Smokey, very loveable! 1 rabbit, female, Neatherland Dwarf her name is Moon. She kisses you...it very cute!
I apparently have a "cat voice."
I love dogs and cats--after moving out to college, I'm finally getting my VERY OWN CAT in two weeks. I'm excited to get cranky at her for playing with my yarn. (Also, I have been CRAVING a JessaLu bag for SO LONG.)
I have had cats and dogs as pets. Right now, cats are easier.
Dogs! Definitely dogs - I have 3 and they are my kids. And I've even knit them sweaters!
Growing up, I was allergic to everything, so I had chameleons and iguanas. Not exactly cuddly pet types. As an adult, I have pugs and they are truly my furbabies. I like cats, but am still so allergic to them. :(
P.S. I just bought a bag from her Etsy shop and am anxiously awaiting for it to arrive! Love her choice of fabrics!!
Dogs are just so loyal.
No matter what, they love ya.
hugs,
Gerry
I have (and love) horses, sheep, dogs, a cat and a cage-bird (the chickens aren't tame, so they don't count), but if I could only have ONE pet, it would be a dog.
Cat person! The Boys - Thumper, Gizmo and Tigger - have been with me for 13 years, Thumper and Gizmo since they were teeny kittens. Admittedly, I love dogs too - had one growing up and will definitely have one again someday.
Do my kids count??
We're a cat house. Isis was rescued from a hard life on the streets and Loki from a shelter.
Nothing beats a night curled up on the couch with a pot of tea, purring cats and my knitting.
We have two beta fish in our home...no cats or dogs. But we love the dogs (and their families) in our neighborhood.
My favorite pet is a dog. I have had dogs most of my life. Right now we have a pomeranian who is almost 8 years old. Her name is Katy and we love her. She is great. We have had all kinds of dogs but I have my favorite breeds--pomeranian, yorkie, german shepard.
We have four dogs...two shih tzus in the house who think they are human, and two labs outside. My little shih tzus are my best little companions and love to be cuddled.
Cats! I've had cats all my life and for the first time am unhappily cat-less (not by choice). My boys are desperate to have a cat too...
Neither dog nor cat but....Rabbits. We have had indoor (litter box trained) house rabbits.
both!
Both (except really, dogs)
well, as you can tell from my avatar I am owned (currently) by a Tuxedo cat named "Tux, King Tux, Mr T!" -- I just couldn't help myself, obvious as it was. He was a kitten prancing through the yard for a couple of days and finally came to the door, begging for food and the rest, as they say, was history.
Seriously, we've had shelter cats and cats who found us (except for Holiday Wilson who we found on Rt. 2 as we were going to Wilson's to begin our Holiday shopping in 1990) since the 70's. I love dogs, but cats seem to be my thing.
I like dogs and cats, and like living with them... sort of. I'd prefer if I could have help that took care of all the responsibilities associated with them so I could just pet them. Someday I wish to have a pet capybara.
I'm a cat person, but I have very fond memories of the tropical fish tank my parents set up for me when I was little. It's a huge thrill to see your kissing gourami actually kiss!
I also had a hedgehog at one point, but that wasn't as fun to have as a pet, really.
Dogs, of course! It's all about the dogs!
Definitely dogs. I do love our chickens, but they're not much for cuddling up on the couch like my miniature schnauzer is!
I have 2 cats and 1 dog - a golden retriever. I think a medium to small dog would be my favorite pet, but I certainly don't want any more pets then I already have so that will have to wait.
I have 3 dogs and 6 horses. I like both cats and dogs but can't get a cat since there is very little room here.
We have a chocolate lab named Wink. One of her eyes never developed. The vet sewed it shut and she always looks like she is giving you a wink!
We also have 5 sheep, 3 lambs and a very friendly llama.
We have a dog named Dexter. He is a rescue and looks mostly like a spaniel, although the vet thinks there's some chow somewhere because he has a black tongue. We also have a black and gray striped cat named Nocturne. I'm a dog person, and my husband is a cat person. Thankfully, the four of us get along quite nicely!
I have Ace the Space Cadet Cat. He doesn't know that he's a cat -- sometimes he thinks he's a dog espcially when he hears Dad's truck coming down the street or when he plays fetch with us.
Sometimes he thinks he's a human -- loves pepperoni and mushrooms.
But mostly he thinks he's a King!
Martha
Our cat, Louie, showed up lonely and hungry when he was just a wee kitten. He's been with me for 15 years now, longer than I've known my husband! He's very sweet to us and refuses to share us with any other animals.
We have three cats & a dog. The cats are easier but just as talkative as the dog.
Cats rule, dogs drool! Only cats for me - 8 here now.
Hedgehogs!
Any animal really, love all but the tree-rats. I tend to be more a cat person than a dog person, but I grew up with two dogs and no cats, so go figure.
There's currently 4 guinea pigs in my life now, I would love to add an alpaca rabbit or two one day...and more hedgehogs, they're suprisingly cuddly!
Dogs or Cats? Yes. Lizards and fish too! I love animals and think a house with no pets just isn't a home.
Love them all,can only have a cat right now.pie too is her name.she sits on my lap as I knit, with much respect for the yarn!
Husband and I have both a dog and a cat! They are our children and we adore them. We're planning on getting an additional one of each once we move into a bigger house!
We had one dog after many years with a cat who had adopted us. Then my son moved back home with his dog. Then in february when he went back to michigan to pick up his furniture he found a car at a rest area, just laing there being snowed on, so he bright that home. Luckily I love both cats and dogs......as well as my Jessalu bags. They are the best bags.
We have a rescue dog. He looks like a Pomeranian, but a little big. When he addopted us he weighed 12 pounds. He's up to 14 now, because my husband who "did't want a dog" gives him cheese & crackers every night. Bear (who's name is Ted E. Bear) let's it be know when it's time for cheese. The dog (not the husband) does a little "dance" and is just too cute to resist. We are both so glad to have this little dog in our lives.
Cats. Cats. Cats. They purr.
I was always a dog person, until we adopted Captain Jack Sparrow from our local shelter. A gray tabby, he's the sweetest little fellow. So, I'm both. We have a little dachshund, two beagles, a beautiful, but aloof longhaired black cat and the Captain.
Cats, for sure!!! I can only dream of chickens :(
Cats! They require so so so much less work than dogs!
Dogs win for me! :D
Love then both, but have none, child and in-law with allergies. I had both growing up, DH had none. I would probably get a rescue dog first, if able, but would also love a cat. We've had fish, frogs, hamsters and hermit crabs over the years.
PS. LOVE JessaLu bags!
I'd have to say both. Our Tinker Belle, a poodle/terrier mix, was an integral part of our family for over 13 years. There's nothing more uplifting than coming home to that wagging tail and unconditional love. Wen my daughter and grandson moved in with me, Hannah came with them, as a part of their family. I came to love her as much as they did and completely understand the saying "Dogs have owners, Cats have staff". I currently live alone in a small apartment with no pets, but I can visit Hannah whenever I feel the need.
When I was growing up we had dogs. My dog was a mix of beagle, terrier and chiuaua if I remember correctly. Then my allergies kicked in, so no replacement when Wiggles died. However, I have discovered there are some dogs which do not bother my allergies - maybe some day I'll have a pet again.
I have a dog and would not change it!
I don't have any pets now...kids are enough, but i did have a Persian that slept on my bed when I was little so I'll go with cats.
As a child I had rabbits and guinny pigs, but now I am addicted to dogs.
I have a little white Maltese right now, named Puck. She's my little drama queen. ;-)
Both! (or more) Growing up there were dogs, cats and cows. Once on my own there was a dog and two cats. Now that I'm married and have a son there are just two cats (oh and the secret alpacas in an undisclosed location....shhhhh)
Cats...definitely cats! I'm almost 35 (don't tell!) and I think I've only had a total of 2.5 years of my life without at least one cat roaming around.
My current kitty is almost 13 years old, and my son was in tears today when he googled the average lifespan of a cat :-( He's a cat-lover like his mama!
I am a dog lover...we also have fish and a rabbit, I love cats but my dog does not.
I am a cat person....I appreciate their independence, especially when I need to be away from home. I did grow up with dogs in the house though, so I suppose some day I may become a cat and dog person. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Since we have multiple pet allergies(especially cats), we are pretty limited on pets at my house. We currently have fish. But I grew up with all kinds of pets and for my money, I have to say dogs.
MY Dog!! Love dogs and everything about them, except the peeing on the floor. And big dogs too, none of those little yappy things for me.
I am a dog person - we just adopted a dog in September, 2010 and we already have a cat. I just tolerate the cat.

I always had dogs growing up. I once had a horse.
We lived in Italy for 4 years, and since they are a "no euthanasia" country, there are so many strays. I adopted several while we were there, and I brought one home to the states with me when we came back. She was the best dog... EVER!
I love cats! I'm getting excited for retirement to get here so we can stop moving around and get a cat again.
I love both cats and doges, but right now we have a cat that would be so ticked if we got a dog.
Also my husband had a Cockatiel that was a sweetheart.
I have a dog and a cat, a guniea pig and a bearded dragon! Now that's unique!
Cats, totally and without hesitation.
