I Need to be Revived.

My kid just asked for dpn. DPN. MY DAUGHTER asked for DOUBLE POINTS.
The daughter of Melissa Morgan-Oakes, author of 2-at-a-Time Socks. Did she ask for a CIRCULAR needle?? No. She asked for....GASSSSSSSSP!!!!....those STICK things!

Now, don't get me wrong. I am glad she's knitting, glad she's asking for yarn and needles. But...oh, the shame.

  1. You know, some people just need to be guided gently into it. The legacy doesn't always go to each generation.

  2. Yes, yes..that's it. I need to pummel her into submission! She's young. She can be "taught"...

  3. Book said "Double pointed needles." and it talked about seperating them... markers... something about yarn...

  4. That is so funny - the rebellious youth! It's good to see younger people knitting, makes for a constructive outlet for their need to be an individual or to express their creativity.

  5. Send her the darn needles! At least she didn't ask you to make whatever it is she's making :)

That's right - send her the DPNs. Make sure they're the slippiest metal DPNs you can find, and then after she loses her stitches off the backside, she'll come crawling back into the fold, asking for a nice new set of proper needles.

  9. Do I admit it? OK, here goes....I'm knitting my first pair of socks on dpns. Well, the first of the pair. Didn't have the right size circ with me last night at knit night, but did find a set of dpns. I'm hating it, but I've got almost 2 inches done so far.

    I'm cheap...just couldn't justify buying more needles. I'd rather buy....YARN!!

  12. Did you ask her what she was going to do with them? It might not have been knitting.

    One can only hope.

Hi! Well, you made it this far, awesome! Please go ahead and leave a comment, because I love to read them. They validate me, give me a reason for living, that sort of thing (no pressure). Be aware, though, that I can't respond to your comment unless you give blogger your email address, sad but true. So if you have a question, please leave your address so I can answer it directly.

C'mon...write something!
